All 24 suspects arrested over Malieveld violence released
Police remain silent on their identities; they will have to answer later
All 24 people arrested during an extreme-right demonstration that got out of hand at Malieveld in The Hague have been released. The police have confirmed this. The suspects will have to answer for their actions at a later date.
Most of the suspects were allowed to leave the same day. The police will say nothing about their identities or the time of their release, nor whether they were sent home with a summons or a fine.
The demonstration by the organisation ‘Wij Zijn Het Volk’ got out of hand when participants wanted to walk through the city and were stopped by the police. Fireworks, sticks and smoke bombs were thrown.
After initially banning only the march through the city because of the violence, acting mayor De Mos dissolved the entire demonstration a short time later.
