Prosus brings in WeTransfer co-founder Nalden to lead AI drive
Ronald Hans becomes chief product officer as Prosus builds a new leadership team for AI and technology.
Prosus has appointed WeTransfer co-founder Ronald Hans, known as Nalden, as chief product officer. The technology investor is also appointing a chief AI officer and a chief technology officer to develop products based on AI and trading data.
Nalden will lead product development across Prosus’s expanded ecosystem. The company has interests in iFood, OLX and PayU, among others. Prosus says the new leadership must build products for consumers, partners and small businesses.
Euro Beinat will become chief AI officer. According to Prosus, he has worked at the group since 2018 and built its AI organisation there. Paul van der Boor, previously vice-president of AI, will become chief technology officer. The three executives will report to chief executive Fabricio Bloisi.
Prosus links the appointments to a shift from technology investor to active developer of AI-driven platforms. The company says it is developing a shared information layer based on commercial behaviour across different services. The announcement does not explain exactly how that data will be combined or what safeguards will apply.
According to Prosus, around one billion customers use services within the ecosystem. This is a company claim about the combined reach of different platforms, not the number of people using a single integrated AI product. It has also not disclosed how much data will be brought together for which purpose.
Nalden co-founded WeTransfer in 2009 and later worked on Boomerang, an alternative file-transfer service. His appointment gives Prosus a product leader from outside the existing organisation, while the AI and technology posts are being filled internally.
The new structure shows the direction Prosus has in mind for investors and partners: AI should not merely be a supporting technology, but a guiding principle for product development. Whether this will lead to new services, higher revenue or better user experiences will only become clear later.
