Five suspects held after attack on occupants in Eindhoven
Two occupants were injured after a group forced their car off the road.
Five men have been arrested in Eindhoven after a violent incident in which two occupants of a car were injured. Police are still investigating what preceded the incident and what role each suspect played.
The incident took place on Saturday evening on Remichweg in Eindhoven. Police first received a report of a possible shooting and shortly afterwards one of a stabbing. On investigating at the scene, police did not establish that shots had actually been fired.
According to police, the car carrying the eventual victims was forced off the road by another car. People from several cars then allegedly attacked the occupants. The car was badly damaged.
Two boys from Eindhoven, aged 18 and 14, were taken to hospital with stab wounds. A third 14-year-old boy from Geldrop reported being threatened with a firearm. Police have not named the minors.
The five suspects were arrested later after a car involved was traced on the A16 near Zevenbergschen Hoek. According to police, they are men aged between 21 and 31 from Zoetermeer, Goes, Alkmaar and Delft. The place of residence of one suspect is still unknown.
The suspects are being held and their car has been impounded. Police say the men’s involvement is still being investigated. It is also not yet known what prompted the violence.
Police are seeking witnesses and CCTV footage not yet shared. No further information has been released about the condition of the two injured boys. As the investigation is ongoing, accounts of what happened may still change.
