Samsung raises prices of Galaxy A phones
Price rises in the Netherlands range from thirty to seventy euros.
Samsung has raised the prices of several Galaxy A phones in the Netherlands. The increase follows earlier price adjustments for more expensive Galaxy models and mainly affects mid-range devices.
According to an inventory by DroidApp, the Galaxy A57 with 128GB of storage now costs 579 euros, compared with 529 euros at launch. The 256GB version costs 659 euros.
Other models have also become more expensive. According to the same inventory, the Galaxy A37 has risen from 429 to 469 euros. The Galaxy A27 has gone from 349 to 379 euros. For the Galaxy A17, the 4G version has risen from 199 to 249 euros and the 5G version from 229 to 299 euros.
Samsung has not provided a separate explanation for these price changes. DroidApp cites rising memory prices as a possible cause, but this is an editorial supposition and not a confirmed explanation from Samsung.
The Galaxy A series is important to the market because Samsung uses it to offer phones below the prices of its flagship models. A price rise in this segment could prompt consumers to keep their current device for longer, switch to cheaper brands or choose a contract that includes a phone.
The official Samsung website lists, among other things, support for multiple Android and security updates for the A series. This could make the higher price partly more attractive to buyers who want to use a device for longer, but says nothing about its value for money compared with competitors.
Price comparisons must take temporary promotions, storage capacity and differences between outright sales and contracts into account. The amounts cited are retail prices for phones sold separately and may change again.
