The Dutch Literature Museum announced the nominations for three The Hague Literary Prizes on Monday. This year, three authors are on the list in each category; the winners will be announced on 23 November.

Maria Barnas with Tussen mij, Dean Bowen with masc:r and Anne Vegter with Projectmedewerkers have been nominated for the Jan Campert Prize for poetry. The prize is intended for a poetry collection or other poetic work from the Dutch-language literary field.

The candidates for the F. Bordewijk Prize for prose are Nisrine Mbarki Ben Ayad with Kookpunt, Ester Naomi Perquin with Tot alles in beweging komt and Arie Storm with Macca. The nominations thus cover various forms of contemporary Dutch-language prose.

Yorick Goldewijk with Albatros, Pim Lammers with Ben je vergeten dat babygeitjes bestaan? and Anna Woltz with De eerste Alix have been selected for the Nienke van Hichtum Prize for children's literature. In total, nine authors have been nominated across the three categories.

This is the first time that three titles have been nominated for each of these three prizes. According to the Dutch Literature Museum, the organisation wants not only to highlight the eventual winner, but also to draw more attention to the breadth of Dutch-language literature.

The jury consists of Valérie Drost, Rashif El Kaoui, Helma van Lierop, Bertram Mourits, Aafje de Roest and Miriam Piters. Drost is chair. Each nominee receives 600 euros; the winners receive 6,000 euros.

The result will be announced on Monday 23 November. The ceremonial presentation will take place during Writers Unlimited in The Hague on 23 January 2027. The announcement of the winners and the presentation therefore do not take place on the same day.

The Constantijn Huygens Prize, the lifetime-achievement prize within the The Hague Literary Prizes, is separate from these new nominations. The prize was awarded earlier this year to Connie Palmen and will also be presented on 23 January. The prize carries an award of 12,000 euros.

The nominations are particularly relevant to readers, bookshops, libraries and publishers who follow interest in Dutch-language literature. They also provide a snapshot of the books that, in the jury's view, deserve extra attention this autumn, without anticipating the final choice.
