Cinekid Festival has announced the main film awards for 2026. Miss Moxy was named best Dutch children’s film, while the Romanian-Bulgarian production Atlas of the Universe won the award for best children’s film.
According to Cinekid, Miss Moxy was produced by Phanta Animation and directed by Vincent Bal and Wip Vernooij. The jury praised, among other things, the family story, the characters and the animation, according to Cinekid.
The main prize went to Atlas of the Universe by Romanian director Paul Negoescu. The film was produced by deFilm and thereby received the Cinekid Lion for Best Children’s Film of 2026.
The Brazilian film Gugu’s World by Allan Deberton was also recognised. The production received a special mention from the jury.
Cinekid is an international festival for film, television and new media for children. The 2026 edition is the fortieth and is taking place at multiple locations in the Netherlands.
Alongside the film awards, prizes were presented in the programme for professionals. According to the festival, this programme supports projects for youth media and international co-productions, among other things.
