Signify recorded a one-off benefit of €28 million in the third quarter from a refund of US import tariffs. As a result, adjusted profit came in above market expectations.
The Eindhoven-based manufacturer of lighting products reported adjusted EBITA of €145 million for the third quarter of 2026 on Friday. That is higher than the average expectation of €113 million in an analyst poll compiled by the company, Reuters reports.
According to Signify, the refund of US tariffs contributed €28 million to the quarterly result. The company says the amount had a net effect on the adjusted figures. It did not explain in its press release exactly which earlier tariffs had been refunded.
Revenue came to €1.367 billion. That is lower than a year earlier; Signify reported a comparable revenue decline of 3.4 per cent. The company says this reflects continued weakness in parts of the European and US markets.
Signify is maintaining its forecast for an adjusted EBITA margin of 7.5 to 8.5 per cent for 2026 as a whole. Including the refunds received, the company is targeting the top end of that range. Without those refunds, it expects to reach the bottom end.
The quarterly figures therefore show two developments at once. The quarterly result received a one-off boost from the refund of US tariffs. At the same time, sales remain under pressure and Signify is warning of difficult market conditions.
The figures have not been audited and include adjusted, non-IFRS measures. Those measures are useful for tracking developments, according to the company, but are not directly comparable with figures from other companies. Moreover, the one-off refund says little about structural demand for lighting.
