Ten homes in Osdorp were evacuated on Monday evening after a possible explosive was found. The Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service is investigating whether the package is actually dangerous.
Police received a report at around 8.30 pm about the suspicious package on Schillingdijk in De Aker. Part of the street was cordoned off and residents of ten homes had to leave their houses.
In addition to the police, a fire service Quick Response Team and the EOD were deployed. The EOD will determine whether it is an explosive and what measures are required. At the time of publication, it was not yet known whether the package was dangerous.
Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious or has footage from, for example, video doorbells to come forward. No suspect has been arrested so far, and no motive has been disclosed.
The report comes from a district where several explosions have been reported in recent weeks. It has not been established whether this discovery is connected to earlier incidents. Police are first investigating the nature of the package and the circumstances in which it was found.
As only a local news report was available, De Vector cannot yet independently confirm the situation with a police report or municipal statement. This article is therefore limited to what AT5 has reported. New information about the EOD operation or the safety of the homes could change the current picture.
