ASM International reported record revenue for the third quarter. The company links the growth to investment in advanced chips and expects to reach a previous 2030 target as early as 2027.

ASM generated revenue of €1.159 billion in the third quarter. That is 45 per cent more than in the same quarter of 2025 on a reported basis and 44 per cent more at constant exchange rates. Revenue was therefore at the upper end of the previously issued range.

The adjusted operating margin was 33.4 per cent. ASM said adjusted net income amounted to €315.4 million, compared with €206.2 million a year earlier. ASM said growth was driven mainly by demand for equipment for advanced logic, chip memory and foundry production.

The company also cited the first substantial contribution from investments in production processes for 1.4-nanometre chips. That designation refers to a production generation, not to a physical measurement that literally describes every part of a chip.

For the fourth quarter, ASM expects revenue of approximately €1.23 billion, with a margin of five per cent either way. For 2027 as a whole, the company expects revenue of more than €5.7 billion at constant exchange rates.

That amount was previously the revenue target for 2030. ASM stressed that the forecast remains dependent on chipmakers’ investment plans. The company also announced a new share buyback programme worth up to €300 million.

The figures fit into a broader resurgence in demand for equipment for AI infrastructure, but they do not mean that every part of the chip sector is growing equally strongly. ASM reports mainly on its own order and revenue development; ultimate demand depends on customers’ investments in new factories.
