OpenAI is increasing the included usage allowance for several paid ChatGPT plans. At the same time, the company is reversing the previously announced reduction for existing Pro 200 subscribers.
According to OpenAI, the change applies to use of Work and Codex within Pro and Business Premium plans. Pro 100 and Pro 500 receive twice the previously included usage allowance.
For Pro 200, OpenAI is scrapping the reduction announced on 29 September. Subscribers who would have been subject to the lower limit will receive twice their previous usage allowance from 29 October. This brings them to the same limit as subscribers who had already retained their higher limit.
OpenAI announced the change in ChatGPT’s release notes. A company representative also confirmed on X that the adjustments take effect immediately and that the usage allowance for Work and Codex is shared within the relevant subscriptions.
The company gives no exact figures for the limits. As a result, the announcement does not show how many additional tasks, messages or other actions a user can actually perform.
The decision follows criticism from customers over the planned reduction for Pro 200. According to the product information, that subscription costs 200 dollars a month; this announcement did not confirm that the price remains unchanged.
OpenAI is also keeping wider limits for its so-called Dots separate from the standard usage limit for the time being. The change therefore mainly concerns the amount of usage within Work and Codex, not general unlimited access to ChatGPT.
For business users, the move could make AI costs and capacity more predictable. At the same time, comparing subscriptions remains difficult because OpenAI does not publish exact usage limits in this announcement.
